Easter Greeting

Easter is here, Spring is here, and what I love about this season is seeing new life budding all around us!  In fact, the other morning I looked out my bathroom window and saw the most amazing things…buds breaking free from our lilac tree.  And as I looked with awe at the new life rising from the ashes of Winter, I could hear the most incredible song coming from a bird in that same tree.  Listening intently, my heart was drawn to the words of Jesus in one of my favorite little verses.
Jesus said, “Look to the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?”  Matthew 6:26
As I process this verse, especially going into this Easter weekend, what I realize is that God is not a distant Father.  No, He loves us, cares for us, provides for us, leads us and fills us with His Spirit as we walk with Him.  And He does it, not because He’s obligated to, but because we are valuable to Him.
In fact, my hope is that you are encouraged today.  Not because life is perfect.  We know it’s not!  Not because things in this world are just right.  We know they’re not!  It’s because our Heavenly Father cares about every detail of our lives. Be encouraged knowing that God loves you and has a plan for each season you’re in.  And remember…
He calls you by name.
”The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice.  He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”  John 10:3
He knows every detail of your life.
”And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:30
He counts and orders your steps.
”Does He not see my ways and count my every step?” Job 31:4
He takes your hand.
“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear.”
Isaiah 41:13
And He loves you.
”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16
We look forward to this weekend, and hope you will join us as we celebrate the Resurrection together!
